HLL Baseball Assessments

Updated:  February 21, 2018

*** BASEBALL ASSESSMENT LOCATION MOVED TO ROBIOUS ***

We are moving the Saturday, February24 baseball assessments to the Robious Athletic Complex (on Robious Crossing Drive behind Robious Elementary School) because of a favorable weather forecast.  This location change will provide us with more room to conduct assessments.

All Machine Pitch, AA, AAA, and Majors players should check-in by the Robious concession stand at least 15 minutes prior to the player’s assigned time slot.  Since we will be outside cleats are now recommended, but not required.

Please also remember to bring copies of (i) proof of residency, and (ii) birth certificate.

Proof of residency can include any of the following:

  • A copy of a driver’s license showing address
  • Voter registration card showing address
  • Utility bill
  • If residency established by the player’s school, either a report card or completed school enrollment form

If you have any questions, please contact your respective division VP:

  • Machine Pitch: Justin Metacarpa (  )
  • Minors / Majors: Stephen Bloomquest ( )

Thank you,

HLL Board of Directors

Update: February 21, 2018

RE: Baseball Divisions (Majors / Minors / Machine Pitch),

With our registration winding down we are now turning our attention to the upcoming assessments and spring draft.

If you are getting this email you have a player registered at HLL for the Spring season that will be part of the upcoming skill assessment. Everyone that signed up on time should have received an email from the respective division VP if their child is playing in Machine Pitch, Minor AA, Minor AAA or Majors.

  1. Assessments are required to be drafted by name at HLL.
  2. Assessments are scheduled for this Saturday, February 24, at Robious Athletic Complex.
  3. There will be over 440 Huguenot Little Leaguers attending assessments between 8:15 AM and 5:30 PM.
  4. Please bring glove, helmet, tennis cleats and USA approved bat.  If you don't have a bat yet, we will have some 28in - 31in bats available for kids to use.
  5. Each player should wear athletic clothing and cleats or tennis shoes and bring their baseball glove and batting helmet. If your child has an approved USA Bat, he may bring his own bat.  Several approved bats will also be available at assessments for use.
  6. We ask that parents arrive on time and leave promptly once their child has completed the assessment.
  7. Assessments are not try-outs.  Everyone not waitlisted gets to play Huguenot Little League.  The purpose of assessments is to assist managers and the league in selecting fair teams.
  8. Those who are waitlisted, we are doing everything we can to get your child off the waitlist.  Waitlisted players should still attend assessments.
  9. In order to assess 440 players in the time we have been allotted, we will need to move quickly
  10. WE ARE REQUESTING PARENTS BRING A COPY OF PROOF OF RESIDENCY AND A COPY OF THEIR CHILD’S BIRTH CERTIFICATE
    1. COPY (not original) of the birth certificate

      4. If residency established by school a report card or completed school enrollment form
  11. There will be Board members present throughout assessments should you have any questions.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Huguenot Hero - Cooper Abbott

Huguenot Hero - Cooper Abbott

Most children Cooper’s age worry about things like no-hitters and walk-off wins. But for Cooper, the battle was much bigger – and today, our slugger lost his long heart felt battle with leukemia.

Our deepest condolences are offered to Cooper’s parents, Anne and Alex. They are the biggest warriors of all; always fighting for Cooper, fighting to stay positive and fighting for more time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their loved ones during this time.

Cooper was such an incredible little soul. He endured very painful treatments but always lived life full-speed ahead. He was a caring hero and a true fighter. He loved baseball, martial arts and doing things all third graders like to do – drawing, Pok√©mon and Legos. Cooper was a proud and loving big brother to Ben, and a huge piece of his parents’ hearts.

Today we say goodbye to our little hero, Cooper. We know you’d be on the field with us today, if heaven wasn’t so far away.

“A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.” – Jackie Robinson

In the coming days, we will be in contact with the Abbott family and will inform the HLL community about arrangements for expressions of love.

BAT STANDARD CHANGES FOR 2018

HLL Families,

With the holiday season approaching we want to once again send a reminder to be careful when purchasing bats for Little League basball.  The bat standard has changed and details are below.  Please make sure that those buying gifts for our HLL players have the right informaiton if purchasing bats for 2018 season.

Please note that as of January 1, 2018, the new USA Baseball Bat Standard will be implemented. Little League-approved baseball bats that are approved for use for the 2017 season will no longer be acceptable for use in any Little League game or activity starting on January 1, 2018. For more information on the USABat standard and a complete list of bats approved through the USABat Standard, visit usabat.com.

It's also important to note that this is a mandate passed down by Little League International.  This is not something Huguenot Little League has control over or decided to implement ourselves.  All Little Leagues are required to adopt this new standard on the time table set forth by Little League International.

You can read more about the move here: http://www.littleleague.org/learn/equipment/baseballbatinfo.htm
