Saturday, February 9th at XL Sports World (2300 Oak Lake Blvd, Midlothian, VA 23112) [map]. All Players must check in at the main XL Sports World building. We will hold the Minors / Majors / Intermediate assessments upstairs in the main building and the Machine Pitch will be in the building across the parking lot.
Copy of birth certificate. if you want to upload this to our website before assessments you can do that as well.
Your child’s assessment time is available in attached schedule. There is a schedule for those assessing in Machine Pitch and another schedule for the Minors / Majors / Intermediate. Please arrive at least 20 minutes before your assessment time to check in.
Please ensure your child brings a glove, sneakers, and wears athletic clothing. We will provide bats and helmets if you don’t have them.
The entire process should take ~45-60 minutes and consist of the following:
Field a couple of grounders and throw about the distance from SS to 1B
Catch a couple of fly balls.
Move to the batting cages to hit a few pitches
Space will be tight in the locations so we ask that parents be patient and wait for their kids in the lobby of the locations.
The plan is not to have a make-up date due to logistical purposes – most of the baseball divisions are going through assessments on this day. If you cannot attend you will still play but we want everyone to make the effort to attend assessments.
One of the key reasons for the assessment is to make sure that all Managers can assess the kids in order to draft teams that are as equal and competitively balanced as possible. Without seeing all of the kids makes this difficult. We would love to have close to 100% participation.
Please do not come at a random time. We have created the schedule so that we can get through 25-30 kids in 30 minutes. If folks come at the wrong time it will create a glut in the schedule and create unnecessary lines and delays.
We will do everything we can to make this a stress-free experience for your children. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.
