Update 7/30
The Huguenot Americans fell short against Chesterfield's dominant pitching today and were limited to only 4 hits (Alex, John, Logan, Nathan) and 2 runs (Alex, John) which were all scored in the 1st inning. Going into the 2nd inning tied 2-2, Chesterfield's offense started to pick up and continued to dominate throughout the game. John made several nice plays in the field and pitched very well. Cole and Nathan provided a double play. Bryce did a nice job in relief. Logan and Nick made nice catches in the outfield as the outfield was very busy.
The team will re-group and prepare to face Tuckahoe Americans on Monday night 08/01 at 8PM, CCLL Field #3.
Update 08/01/11 - 08/02/11
The Huguenot Americans displayed incredible courage and played with miles of heart as they battled back from trailing Tuckahoe Americans 10-1 early. With 2 outs in the 2nd, Alex provided a 2 run triple into the gap scoring Andy and Bryce. John followed with an RBI that brought the score to 10-4. In the bottom of the 3rd, as lightning was literally lighting up the sky, so did Brian's towering 2 run HR to center which made the score 11-6. Due to rain the game continued in the 4th on Tuesday. Nathan who pitched brilliant for 3 innings came into the game and held Tuckahoe to only 1 run in the 4th making the score 12-6. Huguenot refused to quit and continued their offensive attack in the bottom half of the 4th, with Alex, John, Jared, Logan, and Jake all scoring making the score 12-11. Going into the bottom of the 6th with Tuckahoe up 13-11 and with 2 quick outs, and down to the last pitch 4 separate times, Logan, Brian, Bryce all delivered key hits and Jake was hit by a pitch. With bases loaded the game ended on a fly ball with Huguenot Americans coming up just short 13-12. The team earned a bye on Wed and will be playing Central Chesterfield Americans on Friday night 08/05, At 8PM, Field #4. A win would put the team into the Silver Championship game on Sat 08/06 at 10AM.
