7/11 Update

On Saturday at 10:30 a.m., Huguenot's Juniors opened the District 5 Tournament against Tuckahoe with a bang. Our girls started the scoring by putting 3 runs on the board in the bottom of the second inning. We held our opponents at bay for the first 3 innings. In the top of the 4th, Tuckahoe scored two and then in the 5th took the lead of 4-3. In a painful 6th inning, the opponents scored 5 and increased their lead. Unfortunately, we were unable to recover and Tuckahoe took game 1 with a final score of 9-3.The team maintained its composure throughout and is stronger as result of this adversity.

Sunday afternoon at 1:30 Huguenot came back with a stellar complete game pitching performance by Erica. She was supported with an errorless defense, registering 21 outs and surrendering only one run to the ladies across the river. Our bats came alive with 11 hits, led by Abigail who was 3 for 4, scoring two runs and 2 RBI. Shannin, Livia, and Annie each contributed 2 hits including a rocket shot over the center fielder's head by Livia. Middle infielders Morgan and Melissa gave a flawless defensive effort with multiple puts outs. Lexi and Kate secured fly balls in left and right fields respectively while Celia and Keira held down center field. Keira caught the game ending fly ball with basis loaded to defeat Tuckahoe with a 7-1 win.

The stage is set for the teams to square off Monday evening at 6:30 with the winner claiming the District 5 Championship.
